UCSF. December 2020

In December 2020, Dr. Joe underwent a labral repair and rotator cuff repair on his right shoulder by the amazing Dr. Ma and his team at the University of California, San Francisco.

Decades of wear and tear from weightlifting and sports—as well as the physical demands of his profession—finally pushed his shoulder past its limits.

His rehab journey showed him what it’s like to be the one on the treatment table. Even though he’s treated hundreds of shoulders, this first-hand experience helped him empathize even more with what a patient is going through.

Dr. Joe became a physical therapist because of love for two things: sports and helping people.

He’s always wanted to have a positive impact on as many lives as possible, to change the world, even if it’s one person at a time.

Being a physical therapist allows him to use what he feels are his best characteristics in order to accomplish that goal.
